Grand Prix 3 feltet fik en blandet oplevelse deres første fri træning. Der var smaddervådt da de startede, men regnen stoppede, og efterhånden var banen kørt så tør af de mange deltagere, at der kunne skiftes til slicks.
Hurtigst i denne session var Adrian Quaife-Hobbs foran Lewis Williamson og Rio Haryanto.
Michael Christensen kørte sig ind på placering som nummer 10.
